Founded in Japan by Soichio Honda in October 1946 with 12 workers, they manufactured and sold bicycles powered by a 50 cc motor. They also made and sold motor kits to be retrofitted to bicycles. By 1949 they were producing their own complete Honda motorcycle and the rest is history, because by 1964 they were the world's biggest motorcycle manufacturer.
